Fall is just around the corner here in Indiana and that means that it's time to break out the cozy sweaters, thermal tees, and fuzzy fleece vests. While babywearing in the warmer summer months is simple, it gets a bit trickier once the thermostat drops.
I have found the mother of all inventions for active babywearers in the cooler months. The Peekaru Original ($80) is a fleece cover that fits over any soft baby carrier to keep both the adult and baby warm. I have tried out my Peekaru with my wraps, mei tai, slings and pouches, and they have all worked great with the the Peekaru.
Don't be mistaken, the Peekaru is not just to be worn with the tiniest of babies. Since the material is soft and stretchy, it easily fits over you and baby, no mater if your carrying a newborn or toddler.
I plan on wearing the cover like a vest in the upcoming Fall weeks, then throwing a coat over it for an extra layer of warmth in the Winter.
The fleece cover is unique, as it's made from 85% recycled material, Oeko-tex standard 100 certified. Each Peekaru Original saves approximately 25 plastic bottles from reaching the landfill. I'm feeling good about keeping my baby close to me as well as helping out Mother Earth.
Buy it! The Peekaru Original ($80) comes in 5 different sizes, and 5 different colors. You can purchase your very own at Togetherbe.com
Win it! Togetherbe wants to generously give on lucky Simple reader a Peekaru Original in the size and color of their choice. To be entered, make sure you hop over to the site, check it out, and come back here to tell us where you would use the Peekaru this Fall.
Winner will be chosen at random September 20th. Winner will be submitted to Prizy Fetch.
I've had my eye on this, but it's just so expensive! I know I'd use it all the time--on walks with the baby, at the park, or just running errands when the weather cools down.
ReplyDeleteThis would be so so perfect for a friend that had a gorgeous babe in July. she loves the slings but feels they aren't secure enough. this would be perfecto. warm, cuddly and she thinks too many strangers feels like they have permission to come and touch the baby. I agree. hands off.
ReplyDeleteMy niece is expecting so would give it to her.
ReplyDeleteIt would be a perfect baby gift for my bosses daughter, who JUST had her little girl last night!

It is rare that I after reading a review I am truly motivated to buy something and there isn't a discount for your readers??? sigh. Oh well, if I win, then great, if not - then I guess I will just have to get one for myself. We live in the mountains and my oldest son is in football and this would be great for those games where it is colder than... well, cold.
ReplyDeletenateandjakesmom at gmail dot com
My GF would use for walks in fall.
ReplyDeleteherry123_us@live.com
What a great invention. You are right, I find it impossible to bundle up the baby and carry him in the baby bjorn. I have tried everything from tucking blankets around the outside to wearing an giant cape to cover us both. This would be wonderful to have on a crisp Fall day while out and about.
ReplyDeleteI would use it everywhere! I love the idea. I have a fleece cover I got for my baby bjorn that works well, but this is MUCH cosier and we can bundle together. And it will not fall off!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great product - I love the blue. I'd use it everywhere - I'm about to have my first and am really in the market for a sling. Thanks for the chance! afdr3d@umkc.edu

ReplyDeletei'd use it to go to the high school football games
ReplyDeleteWell, I can't use it this fall because my baby isn't due 'til December! But...I would definitely use it this winter. I would snuggle my little guy in there, put on a down coat and watch from the bottom of the hill while I watch my husband go sledding with our older son. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd wear the blue peekaru while we are in Russia where we are adopting our little boy :) It would keep us nice and warm during the cold autumn there.

ReplyDeleteI would use this while walking on our favorite hiking trails, the zoo and just playing outside with our older kids.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE one of these! We frequent the zoo quite a bit as well as a variety of fall festivals where it would be nice. It would also be great for walks around our neighborhood once the weather turns cooler!

We are a one car family, and this fall and winter my husband will have to stop biking to work and start taking the car. I'd love to have this to keep my son warm on the way to the library or waiting for a bus!
ReplyDeletemomabr at yahoo dot com
Wow, what an amazing product. This would be so great for the baby that I'm having this December when it's definitely going to be cold out. I also have a 2-year-old, so this would come in handy for all the times that we go out to play in the snow or take a walk!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
xpsundell(at)gmail(dot)com
We live in town so I'm always walking everywhere with my son in the Baby Bjorn. This would be much easier than the blanket I used to tuck into the armholes when I took him out as a newborn in early spring. My favorite is the green in an XL so both my husband and I could use it.
ReplyDeleteAt the Fall Festival or at the Farmstead.
ReplyDeletehetz-junk(at)hotmail(dot)com
I would use this when I take my grand babies out for a walk or to the park.
ReplyDeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteI just had my 3rd baby 6 months ago, I live in Utah where the winters are freezing! If I am going to be able to get out at all this winter this would be awesome. Because suddenly with 3, the double stroller doesn't cut it! Thanks. I like the brown.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this for my friend who is having her first baby. She lives in CANADA so I know she would use this constantly. I bet one of the places she would wear it most would be to visit the stables to see her horse. ReplyDeleteAh ha, I see how it works now. My daughter is going to be working as a nanny, so I'm sure she could really use one of these.
ReplyDeleteI would probably wait until January to use it when the new baby came, right now the belly is too big for my 18 month olds. It would be really nice for the next little guy or girl!
ReplyDeleteI would love to use it this fall and winter - With my son I wore my husband's old winter coat on walks around the neighborhood, but since it was oversized, it could get a bit drafty. I had to do some elaborate blanket tucking into the wrap to make it work. This would be the perfect thing to layer with in the winter while wearing the next one (due any day now...).
ReplyDeleteI would use it at football games.
ReplyDeleteThe zoo!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! It gets cold here pretty quickly, so I love the idea of being able to wear baby still for walks, etc. I think we'd get the most use out of it when we go to watch big sister's outdoor soccer games and activities!
ReplyDeletearbrashears(at)msn(dot)com
That is an adorable carrier! Since I'm having our third baby in late winter I could definately use this, the Lavender is so pretty. I would use it just about everywhere from going to the grocery store, to just doing household chores.

ReplyDeletepinkveganmiso(at)yahoo(dot)com
I think it'd be great for going on walks/hikes. It's fun to take a ride up to the mountains in October to see how the leaves have changed. Also, it'd be great for taking my daughter to the flea market when it gets colder. Thanks!
