Print & Prosper with Kodak (and go to BlogHer)

Right now in this current economy - every dollar coming in or going out of my house matters. Running our household on a responsible budget has never been more important. I'm always looking for ways to save a few bucks without feeling like I'm sacrificing.

At our home, probably our biggest daily savings come in the form of some good ole' coupon clipping. Another way we save is exercising our "free entertainment" options like going to the park, checking out movies at the library, and attending free concerts and community festivals during the warmer months.

Last week I got the privilege of talking to financial expert and author to the book "Money and Happiness" Laura Rowley about different ways to save money throughout every room in the house.

Being a work from home mom; I was especially excited to hear what she had to say about the home office. One area that is easy to save some cash is with the family printer. I have to admit, that between my in home Interior Design business and printing out cute pictures of my daughters, I go through an embarrassing amount of ink.

Kodak has launch a "Print and Prosper" campaign where they are getting the word out on unnecessary spending of ink. Did you know that last year alone, US consumers overspent $5.0 Billion on Inkjet Printing?

With Kodak's new line of all-in-one printers, the average American can save on around $110 a year. Don't believe me? You can easily calculate your own (and find out how much you overpaid) via the Print and Prosper website to see where you're printing habits fall.

For me, I could save $120 a year! Recently I've switched to the Kodak ESP-7 and have been very pleased with all it's capabilities - (including saving me mega bucks on ink).

SIMPLY WIN IT! Kodak wants to jump start some at-home savings for one lucky Simple reader with a new Kodak ESP-7 (retail $199.99) printer of their very own. To enter, visit Kodak Print and Prosper, calculate how much you could be saving on ink with a new Kodak printer. Come back here and leave us a comment letting is know what you would do with that extra money in your pocket.

SECOND ENTRY? Tweet about this contest on twitter. (leave an additional comment)

SIMPLY A BONUS OPPORTUNITY! In addition to the new printer, the winner of this contest will have a 1 in 5 chance to have a full sponsorship to BlogHER (the women blogging conference this summer being held in Chicago) courtesy of Kodak. We will be submitting the winners answer to a celebrity judge selected by Kodak.

Now that's some real savings...

Winner will be selected and notified April 19th, 2009.

  1. The site calculated a savings of $108.65 for me. Hmmm, with that savings I would blow it on a cut and color at the good salon in town. Then I would be the lady in the grocery store that makes you think "Hey, I love her haircut .. I wish mine looked that good." I'm a terrible, selfish mom.

    Thanks for a great giveaway!

  7. Kodak's overpayment calculator suggested that I could save about $129 per year. Not sure how completely accurate that is given the lack of granularity in the available print options, but I'm sure that I could save real money, since HP ink is notoriously expensive.

  35. I would save just under $100 annually. With that money, I would break down and get my hair colored because every time I print a photo that has me in it, I cringe at all the grey taking over where red should be. 50. That was a fun exercise! I found out I will save $105.61 a year! That’s pretty substantial and I am sure in actuality I will save more because I am sure I print more than I realize! I would use that savings towards purchasing more eco-friendly products for my family of 5! Everyday I look for ways that I can “Greenify” our home and the products I use for the home and on my family and this money will help me to replace all of our old conventional household cleaning, health and beauty products with healthier organic natural products. It can get expensive so I am right now replacing them on an as needed basis! It would be nice to just go out and slurge on them! Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity to enter. I have always loved Kodak products and know they are always going to be state of the art!

  127. This was fun to figure out! I could save $53.49 by switching my printer and I thought I was using a money-conserving printer, so this is a VERY good savings for me!

I would take my family of six out to the movies with our financial windfall. However, to maximize my savings - I would go to my nearest warehouse store to buy the Super Saver movie tickets (saving me 23% per ticket). (I also have one member of our family who is under 2 and is free so I would only need 5 tickets). I would go on a Monday to splurge on the $1 candy deal and then buy one large popcorn and one large drink (both of which include a free refill) and we would feel like we splurged on a very special treat without breaking our bank at all!

Overall, great giveaway! Thanks for letting me dream of a fun family activity for our tightly budgeted family!
