We're a pet family, we love animals and think that they are great a great way to round out the family. Currently, our family has one dog and two cats. We tried our hand at fish, and that didn't work out so well because of the cats (long story, don't ask).
My four year old has already asked for a hamster, and for some reason a live hamster doesn't sound very attractive to me. It's the cage, the ceder chips, and the thought of it escaping it's cage that makes me want to squeal.
We were thrilled when we saw the perfect solution to our daughter wanting a live hamster - the Zhu Zhu Pet. We love this little guy for so many different reasons, we had to make a list.
Zhu Zhu pets will never:
1. need their cages cleaned.
2. keep you up all night with their squeals.
3. need to be fed (but occasionally need their batteries changed).
4. bit or scratch.
5. need a pet sitter when you go on vacation.
6. will need to go to the vet.
We got to try out a few of these cute little furry robots and their play house. Thanks to Mom
Select, we got sent the whole shee-bang. The Hamster Fun House, the Surf Board and Sleep Dome, and of course we can't forget the Hamster Wheel and Tunnel.It was really cool to watch the hamsters in action - running from place to place in their environment. My youngest daughter especially thought it was neat to watch her hamster do the exercise wheel.
While Zhu Zhu pets are really fun to play with, we have to be honest here. The Hamster Fun House and all it's accessories were somewhat difficult to put together. My 4 year old definitely could not do it herself, and I even had a hard time with it myself. You've been warned, come with some patience when setting it all up.

We can't have real furry pets due to allergies (ok, I guess there are a couple that sort of qualify, but it's not been worth it to us to pursue them) so this would be a great way for the kids to have fun with the idea without having to worry about that. The kids are so young now anyway that they wouldn't be able to handle the responsibility of a live pet even if it wasn't going to cause allergy issues.

ReplyDeleteHow would this work for our family? I would almost beg random if I thought it would do any good. My daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2007. Due to immunity issues she can not have animals inside at all. She has wanted a hamster most of her 6yrs. Since Zhu Zhu Pets came across her tv two months ago the negotations have been non stop. I have three granddaughters who have been begging for hamsters. I have never seen anything like these. They are adorable. I wouldn't mind having one for myself, however, it's my granddaughters that I would love to give these to.
ReplyDeleteThis would be a fun pet for us because my kids want a hamster, but there is no way, with our cat we rescued 8 years ago...he would get it for sure. Now we CAN finally have that hamster, I bet the cat would love watching it scoot around too.

I would love to win a hamster for my son. It would be a great christmas present and he would not have to worry about it like a real live pet. He wants to get a dog but we have been putting it off as we travel a lot and don't want to have to pay for kenneling, etc. This would be a very fun alternative!
