BOBA Baby Carrier - Finally Here!

boba-logo

boba1Many of you are probably familiar with the carrier called "The Sleepy Wrap." I for one rave constantly about this particular carrier on my personal blog. I love the sleepy wrap A LOT and recommend it to any mom with a new baby. Its the carrier to have.

The only thing is after your baby gets to be a certain weight and height.. the sleepy wrap isn't the best option. I actually can still wrap Taite in it but because of his height and weight its just not practical to do this.

Sleepy Wrap though has just launched a brand new carrier called the "BOBA!" The Boba is a structured carrier (SSC) and is intended for children ages 1 to age 5. This carrier is not recommended for newborns or smaller babies.

You can view a list of BOBA Features on their website.

I really would rather answer a few questions I think some of you may be wondering.

1. Is this easy to use? ABSOLUTELY. If you are new to babywearing and easily overwhelmed by all the tying methods, wraps, loops, etc..etc.. go with a SSC carrier. They are THE EASIEST to use. In fact this is the ONLY carrier my husband enjoys wearing. He does not enjoy wraps or slings, or mei tais. He said any carrier that requires a BOW of some sort haha isn't for him. So this will be his 1st choice for our new baby coming this March (once he or she is big enough)

2. Is it big? I think its the perfect size. I am just over 5 foot tall and pretty petite and it fits me well. My husband is almost 6 foot tall and it fits him just as well.

3. Are you pregnant wearing it?! Yup, 4 1/2 months and wearing my 2 1/2 yr old 30 lb child on my back. :) It is very comfortable and It did not hurt my stomach at all. I just placed it right under the belly. I would not recommend wearing this though if you are 6 months and up.

  1. I would be so honored to try the BOBA baby carrier. I am a SAHM and wouldn't otherwise be able to afford a gift like this for myself. My son loves to be held 24/7 and it is killing my arms and my back! I love how easy it looks for the child to go in and be carried and that they can be worn in the front and on the back. It looks so comfy!
Thank you for the opportunity to enter this wonderful giveaway!

  2. I love the idea of being able to easily wear a toddler. I am a SAHM of a 4yo girl and a 2yo boy, both of whom need to be carried from time to time when we are doing alot of walking. Also the fact of it being so user friendly is very catching to me. I definitely wish I had more than one set of hands from time to time or at least the one God has givin me to use.

  3. My six month old is almost 20 pounds and after about an hour in the wrap she's wieghed down about eight inches! I never thought I'd need a new carrier this soon, but it's time for something more sturdy. Thanks for this great review and giveaway.

  4. I love using my wraop carrier, but my husband isn;t that into it, with a Boba he could wear our baby and get as much enjoyment out of it as I do!

  5. As a busy mom of 4 munchkins 5 years and younger, having the BOBA carrier would be a huge help! At 6 months, my youngest is currently in a front facing soft carrier, but I would love something for the "next step". I really like that the BOBA is more of a backpack-like design and that it is meant for older children. I love baby wearing and would like to continue it with my princess for as long as possible :)

  7. This carrier looks so comfortable for older children. My kids are 2 and 4 and my 2 year old loves to be close to me! I plan to have more so this would also be great for future children and to loan to friends. Also, my husband would wear it since it looks simple and not girly.

  9. I would love to win this boba, because I have a sleepy wrap that I just got for this fourth baby of mine, and I've loved it so much, I wish I had had it with my other three. But, my baby boy is getting heavier, and I would love to have something that suits his size now. I looked around the site, and what I love is that I can carry him on my back...all the front carriers are sorta hard for me because I can't do as much with my hands. Thanks for offering this giveaway! My email is adriansherri@msn.com. :)

  10. I would love to have a Boba carrier. I have a 21 pound 8 month old who loves to be worn. I like that I could wear him on my front or back with this carrier. The arms look well padded and I like the idea of a foot strap. Plus, I could use this for my 2 year old as well.

  12. Oh gosh, this is such a beautiful carrier, this is my first experience of it, I've never seen it before! I have a 20 month old, who I still wear, and it would be great to have a little bit of a more sturdy carrier then my ring slings and mai tais, because she is getting so much bigger. I'm also 5 1/2 months pregnant, and would love to have a carrier to try with the next little guy when he is a little bigger (since I know its recommended for 1 +). My daughter has very sensitive skin, and so the idea of her snuggling up in an organic carrier would be amazing. Oh, and I also think my husband would love this and wear her!

  13. My son never got to experience the joy of baby wearing like my daughter did. I had the Bjorn for him, but never used it very much because it hurt my back! A friend introduced me to world of baby wearing-I never knew there were so many choices out there! I love, Love, LOVE, my Sleepy Wrap and actually heard about it through your blog! I was sad when I had to stop carrying my daughter because she became too heavy. She practically lived in it! Now 17 months and still a "huggy" baby, I know my sweet girl would love to be in a carrier again. The Boba would be PERFECT for us!

  18. My stepdaughter lives in Central America and works at her husband's family outdoor stand-she currently has a one year old and is pregnant again. I would love to win one of these for her so that she could wear her older child when needed (babywearing is very big in Guatemala!) and have hands free to take care of the business. Her hubby could also pitch in and help wear the older child too. I like the safety feature to prevent unintended release and the fact that you can wear a toddler... this will be something they could cherish for quite a few years!

  27. I would love to try the BOBA carrier! As a mom to a two year old and 8 month old, this would be an amazing carrier to have. I absolutely love the foot straps!! When I carry my 2 year old in other carriers, I always hate that her feet are just dangling there. With the foot straps, they will be supported! I also love that it's specifically designed for older kiddos. And, I think that it would be great for my husband to wear, he's not a big fan of my girlie carriers, and these are so great as a gender neutral carrier.

  30. I LOVE my sleepywrap, and the Boba looks fantastic! I would love to try it! One of my favorite things about the Boba is the leg positioning. My daughter loves the sleepy wrap and I love that the "position" in it is comfortable for her (with her legs out, she's 8 months now) and I love that the Boba has made positioning of the legs that same comfortable way on their carrier! Who couldn't love something like the sleepywrap, I'm a customer for life. :D

  36. The BOBA looks like the carrier that I have been looking for as my family is pretty active but my daughter still needs to be held for things and the wrap is not working for that anymore. Also I am currently pregnant with my second so I can use the wrap for my new little one and my husband can use this carrier for my daughter!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh how I would love to win! I have a 2.5yo and a 7mo who loves to be held! This carrier looks like it would be a great carrier for a husband or grandma to use. We have a few ring slings and they are kinda tough for the grandmas to use. So when they are watching the kids, this would be an ideal carrier to send along in the diaper bag!

I REALLY love the buckles, making the on-off simple and quick, which is important with the two kids.

    Thanks for the chance!

  43. I was over at the sleepywrap site the other day and was so excited to see they are carrying another option that will work with older/larger kids. I'd love to give this carrier a try. I've been looking for a buckle style carrier that will be fast on and off for those times when you are in and out of stores and the car.

The footstraps are so unique to a carrier. I think that might be my favorite feature. The girls are all the time trying to stick their feet into the straps of my carrier or I just hold their feet. They like their toes to be supported (it might also be that they like to think of me as a horse while I'm carrying them and tell me to "giddy-up"! lol)

  58. I would love to use the BOBA carrier. My 16-month-old has CP and LOVES to be carried. She won't be walking for a while yet, so I imagine I'll be carrying her for several years to come. The foot straps will hopefully make it comfortable for her to be in a carrier as an older child. My back can sometimes be a little tricky, and the BOBA looks like it would be the most ergonomically healthy. I also like the increased height and width of the BOBA's design, and think it will keep my baby more comfy. Thanks so much for the giveaway!!!

  81. I am a HUGE fan of the Sleepy Wrap and try to convince everyone I know who's having a baby to get one. I was so excited to see their new product, the BOBA! I even wrote about it on my blog! I've never seen a carrier with footstraps before, and I think that's a wonderful idea. Plus the colors are great. I have a 21 month old and a 2 month old, and I know I would get a lot of use out of a toddler carrier. Thanks for the chance to win!

  82. I've carried my son in a Bjorn and now a Moby. I prefer the structured carriers, but he's almost a year now, so a front carrier just isn't an option. I'd love to with this to haul him around for the next four years. If I'm that strong...

  85. We are adopting a 1-2 year old and I have been investigating different baby-wearing ideas to help with the bonding process when the time comes. This BOBA carrier appeals to me because it is for older children, and it can be used by both my husband and I. It also seems to be great for traveling, and we are adopting from Taiwan. Thanks for the opportunity!

  94. I would love a Boba! We LOVE our Sleepy Wrap, but my 14 month old is getting to the point where she likes to be on my husband's back, but my front. The Sleepy Wrap is difficult to master tying on the back (and he can't do it alone). Also, we are expecting our 2nd, so we will need another carrier, so one specifically for a toddler is great for us!
I like the high back, because my little girl is quite tall, and wiggly!

I am due to have my third child in the beginnning of January and am looking for something just like this for my daughter who will be 19 months when the new baby arrives!

I love the look of the BOBA and that it is for older children. I like the design (so similar to my bEco) and the ease of use!

  105. My husband and I have been bummed to have to rely on our stroller to scoot our son around. Don't get me wrong, it's a great stroller...but our 1 y/o grew out of his carrier about 4 months ago - dad is 6'4" and baby is definitely headed that way. Given the flexibility of being able to use this carrier up until the preschool years, we would be able to use this long after our son 'sized out' of other carriers as he continues to grow by leaps and bounds. The organic/green stuff is just a nice bonus!

Thanks for a great giveaway opportunity.

But now the girls are older and heavier and I'm searching for a good soft-structured carrier primarily for back carrying so that I can manage grocery store trips alone with my twins. The most intriguing thing about the Boba to me is the foot straps - it would seem to make riding piggyback so much more comfortable! I would absolutely love to win one!

  111. First of all, that picture of you and your son is priceless. Your 'do is super cute and I love your shirt too. I bet BOBA will want you to be their next model. ;)

Secondly, I love that this carrier has such wide straps (and waist support too). It looks really comfortable. I'd like to give it a try with my 3-year-old (who sometimes still likes to be held on walks) and my 7-month-old (after she turns 1, of course).

    Thanks for the excellent review.

  112. I was researching on the most appropriate carrier for my son Matthew who is 12 kg at 9 months. My husband Michael and I love to have him close to us (probably till he's 30 years old!) and I know Boba will enable us to do that (at least) into toddlerhood ;)
A Customer Care agent at Boba shared your site with me and I am glad she did. I am now even more convinced that Boba is very comfortable & natural and is the best choice for Matthew, Michael and I. Hope I will be the first mum wearing the Boba Organics in Kuala Lumpur!

I love how you can use it for casual day to day activities or more physical activities like hiking, speed walking, etc. I have agonized/researched many, many carriers/backpacks and was thrilled when I found this one! 137. So why do some still claim that the horizontal position is better for your infant? The physiological arguments as to why a baby should be transported in a horizontal position for his first months of life seem to stem from the assumption that the upright position may be stressful to his underdeveloped spine and pelvis.
