I'm Turning Green!

As parents, we want our kids to be loving, kind, and respectful little people. When teaching the importance of "please" and "thank you's", it's equally important to teach respect for our planet with terms like"reuse"and "unplug", and "turn-off".

While teaching by example is the preferred method, this can prove to be a little difficult at times. The Little Environmentalist is a company committed to developing and publishing children's material to promote environmental awareness, appreciation, knowledge and stewardship.

The Little Environmentalist has a brand new book out called I'm Turning Green ($7.95, paperback). Geared towards the preschool crowd, this picture book follows a little girl in her daily routine. As she goes about her day, she discovers just how easy it is to "go green".

I love the simplicity of this book. It's educational, written in a format that kids will find fun and exciting to read over and over again. The book is filled with easy to understand tips like hanging clothes, composting and growing a backyard garden.

Printed on 100% recycled paper that is 100% post-consumer waste and chlorine free, the people of The Little Environmentalists practice what they preach.

Win it! We have one copy of I'm Turning Green for a lucky Simple reader. To be entered, leave us a comment sharing one green, eco-friendly tip you and your family practice.

Winner will be chosen at random December 18th, 2008.

There's tonnes more we do, as we fell it is very important. :) Would love to win this book for my daughter (for in a couple years)

  11. I like to say that I'm married to the "Recycling Nazi", as my husband can often be found sifting through our garbage (and his classroom garbage at school!) making sure nothing was thrown away that can be reused. But it has rubbed off on Dana, and she loves finding things to put into the special yellow bags for the garbagemen to pick up!
