I'll admit it - I watch American Idol. Throughout the seasons, the show has really produced some major rock stars!
A few seasons back, one of my favorite contestants was rocker dude Constantine Maroulis. Well, Constantine has hit it in the big time - staring in his fist major musical role on Broadway - Rock of Ages.
What can you expect from the Rock of Ages soundtrack? It's for anyone who loves the Broadway theatrics, falling in love to classic '80s hits, and oh yes....big hair rock! It's a classic boy-meets-girl romance, falling in love to heavy metal.
Don't believe me and want to see a little "behind the scenes" footage? Check out this clip of the cast in rehearsal - it's awesome!
This Broadway hit is set to the musical mind-blowing likes of Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Pat Benatar, Poison and Twisted Sister (just to name a few). All-in-all, the soundtrack include 22 rock tracks!
Honestly, when I received the CD, I was hesitant because I love 80's rock and assumed that this Broadway rendition would murder some of my favorite tunes (let's be honest here).
After listening to it a few times, I do give it a big round of applause. They didn't kill any of my favorites, just put a Broadway twist on every track. If you love 80's music and theater - this album is for you.
WIN ONE! We have a Rock of Ages CD to give away to one lucky Simple reader. To enter, leave us a comment letting us know something you loved about the 80's.
Winner will be randomly chosen and notified August 11th, 2009.
I loved the clothes. Thanks for the chance.
