green town toys :: kid-focused, earth-friendly {giveaway}

When I was a kid I remember my grandpa turning the giant cardboard box that our family's new freezer had been delivered in into a nice little house for us kids.  He cut out a working door and shutters and our little girl imaginations ran wild as we colored the walls.  The box was well used and falling apart when my parents finally decided to take back the dining room a couple weeks later.

Fast forward twenty plus years and I can give my daughters the joy of pretend home-ownership without having to invest in a major appliance thanks to Green Town Toys.  Green Town Toys makes cardboard toys for kids.  They have things to Play On, like their Club Chairs, and things to Play In, like the Citadel. 

We have been trying out and enjoying their new white Citadel.  Before we go any further I need to emphasize just how STURDY the corrugated fiberboard that Green Town Toys uses really is.  These are toys made for children and the abuses that they will impart on their toys.  I don't expect it to last forever, but I'm pretty sure that our new Citadel will be around for quite a few months before I donate it to the recycling bin.

Here is the part where I publicly thank Green Town Toys for helping to find a use for what was an extensive hodge-podge sticker collection, a feat that I didn't even think that was possible in this lifetime.  You can see Michaela above with one of the walls from our Citadel after an intense day of decorating.  Most days now I can find the walls and towers covered with princess dolls and stuffed animals, but occasionally they all have to be removed for an additional coloring bout. :)
