Aren't these burpcloths cute?!
Well guess what...they're really easy to make! Since I am just starting out here on SIMPLE, and don't have items to review just yet, I thought I'd do something a little bit different for my first post. I'm going to teach you how to make these! So pay close attention...there's a surprise at the end.

Materials:
- 1/2 yard each of 2 coordinating flannel fabrics
- 1/2 yard terry cloth
- shape to trace and cut out, such as a cookie cutter
- coordinating thread
Instructions:
1. Cut out fabric pieces. With each flannel fabric, cut a 11" x 18" rectangle. Cut 2 - 11" x 18" pieces of terry cloth. Trace and cut shapes on flannel fabric you choose. (I usually do circles.)
2. Pin shapes onto the other flannel fabric, keeping in mind seam allowances when you sew around border. Tightly zig-zag stitch around the perimeter of each shape.
3. Take rectangle flannel piece and terry cloth piece, put right sides together. Sew around the perimeter leaving about a 4 inch opening at the bottom so you're able to reach inside to turn it right-side out.
4. After turning right side out, iron edges flat.
5. Zig-Zag stitch around the entire perimeter of burpcloth.
6. Repeat on 2nd burpcloth.

ReplyDeleteGreat review idea! I think these are something that even I could make...gives me inspriration, I'm a little leary of the sewing machine after sewing several head and armholes shut in home ec back in high school. :) I would like to see reviews of new and improved baby products on the market. Would help to decide if I should get rid of my hand me downs for #3 or not.
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteWould love to see reviews on "natural" sunscreens, bug sprays, etc. for toddlers and infants.

ReplyDeletesunscreens for babies, kids, and adults who burn! i liked the pictures you used with your tutorial. (i don't sew, i knit...i'm less dangerous that way.) o, and bug deturrents...there are new black skeeters abroad who don't make a warning sound, they just lite and bite and repeat in another spot...leaving welts and horrible ittiching.

Great tutorial! I would like to read reviews about natural/organic cleaners/household products, as well as chic "girly" toiletries that are chemical-free :)
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial! It would be great if you reviewed natural products such as lotions, shampoos, powders, etc for kids/babies.

Those Burp Cloths would make a really adorable gift for a mommy-to-be!! I know I have a thousand baby showers to go to this summer, so unique gift ideas are always welcome. I would love to see reviews of different cloth diaper options. There are a million choices and I dont know where to start! Cloth diapering accessory reviews would be helpful as well, detergents and sprayers and such. Convincing my husband it wont be a "gross" undertaking is a whole other process...
ReplyDeleteI would love reviews on baby toys and cloth diapers.

I would like you to review more natural and green cleaning products. Since having a baby I have been really concerned about the chemicals I am cleaning my house with.
ReplyDeleteHi. Such a great idea! I would love to see you review items for moms of two or more. What's great out there? Not as much time to look when baby #3 is on the way....since you are chasing others around! :)
ReplyDeleteI would enjoy reading reviews about natural lotions for babies and also cloth diaper cover (some wool ones would be great) reviews.
ReplyDeleteI would love some reviews on toddler and preschooler toys and products. Thanks!

These are so adorable, I love that you did a tutorial since I am hoping to do more sewing in the next few months before my baby comes and am looking for some simple projects to start with!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see reviews of different cloth diapers; we are hoping to use cloth but find that they are SO expensive up front. i would loveinformation about affordable places to buy diapers that are good quality but are affordable for for a young couple with their first baby...
I'd love to see reviews on healthy baby products...this is the sort of thing I'm always looking for myself.

I'd LOVE to see reviews on any items (if they exist) that help with sleep or help get toddlers relaxed. We're having a tough time with our 20 month old. She was an all night sleeper for months and now she wakes for an hour. It's rough.
