I have slowly been "greening" our home over time, making small changes as I can. One way I have recently been trying to be more eco-conscious is in my paper towel usage. Lately, I've been using SKOY cloths instead of paper towels, and I am so happy about the switch! Not only are they cheaper in the long run, but they are also more efficient! Here's a little more info about SKOY cloths.
(From the company website)
The SKOY cloth is a fabulous, absorbent, biodegradable and natural multi-use cloth. Our re-usable earth friendly cloth is perfect in your kitchen, bathroom, and on most surface areas in your home or office. A SKOY cloth can be used in place of your sponge.
SKOY Cloths are:
100% biodegradable
absorbent
re-usable
clean
multi-use
I have loved using my SKOY cloth for the last several weeks. I've really put it through the paces! I've used it to wipe counters, wash dishes, clean out the microwave and fridge (both VERY daunting tasks at my house), clean the stovetop, and wipe up spots on the floor. I've thrown it in the wash to clean it and I've zapped it in the microwave to sanitize it. After several weeks of heavy use, it still looks pretty great! I'm impressed.
GET YOUR OWN! Visit SKOY Enterprises to shop for their great products. The cloths featured in this review are $6.99 for a 4-pack.

Hi! I use cloth diapers to cut down our landfill usage and save money!

We are big recyclers and we will be using cloth diapers for baby number 2 come July!
ReplyDeleteThese look great! I am going to be more diligent with my composting.
ReplyDeleteWe use cloth diapers and are about to switch to unpaper towels!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to use old rags in many paper-towel related ways, cleaning the table, wiping up spills on the floor. I also use my reusable grocery bags religiously (now only if I could get my husband to do the same, we'd be on to something!).

I think I end up being eco-conscious without really trying. It's more like I try to be frugal, and later figure out that other people consider it eco-conscious.
ReplyDeleteUsing reusable grocery bags and cloth diapers, for instance. And wash cloths instead of paper towels and cloth napkins instead of paper ones.

We always recycle our cans or any aluminum we have. And lately I have been using food/household packaging items to craft with to recycle those as well.
ReplyDeleteThese would be so great to have as I am really not a sponge person.
thanks again!

trying to cut back on paper towels - I bought cheap washcloths and let the kids decorate them so they have their own when they eat.
ReplyDeleteHi! We use re-useable grocery bags and are big recyclers.

We use reusable grocery bags and recycle everything! I have three recycle bins from our local trash service in town...I have so much every week to recycle - cans, plastic, cardboard & glass. I would lvoe to try cloth diapers someday.

We cloth diaper. I am obessed with it and have even converted a friend. They are SO much better for the planet and baby. The towels look awesome and will be great stocking stutters.
ReplyDeleteWe recycle and use rags instead of paper towels when possible! I'd love to win this.

We recycle everything our city takes. And I love my reusable shopping bags. But I admit, I'm a big paper towel user so these cloths would help me in that area
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to be more eco-friendly by reusing anything that I can. This would be a great way to cut back on paper! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteWe use cloth diapers and soap nuts for doing laundry. Partly for the cost benefits (I'm a big cheapskate). But I love that these things are good for the environment, too!

I take my reusable shopping bags to the store every time I shop or refuse a bag when I'm just buying a couple of items. The bf and I have been recycling like crazy. He knows just by the look I give him that he's put something recyclable in the trash. He's learning!
ReplyDeleteWe are big recyclers. My husband told me that he brings home his cans from work, he feels too guilty to throw them away. We use reusable containers to pack lunches instead of plastic bags, and use cloth bags to grocery shop.

I use my own recycle bags for small grocery shopping.
ReplyDeleteWe recycle and are teaching the kids to recycle too!
ReplyDeleteWe use re-usable bags at the grocery store and cut up tee-shirts for cleaning rags!

I just recently switched to cloth, and we also recycle. I would love to try the skoy cloths because I just hate using so many paper towels

I try to take shorter showers and carpool to reduce carbon emmissions! :)

we recycle and I try to use re-usable containers instead of plastic baggies (that inevitably get tossed) for my son's school snacks.

We do a lot (but never enough) and my favorite lately has been homemade laundry detergent that not only is organic, but it doesn't blow through bottle after bottle/box after box.

We recently switched to cloth diapers at our house and I'm always looking for new ways to think green. These sound like a great idea!
ReplyDeleteWe use cloth diapers, recycle a ton and also have a compost! I love only having one small kitchen garbage bag a week for the garbage truck to pick up!

We Recycle.

What a great product. I would love to try one. We challenge ourselves at home to recycle as much as possible. I also carpool to work. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHope I made it in time for the drawing!!! Count me in :-)
ReplyDeleteNot sure if I made it in time. We'll see. :)
ReplyDeleteI use dryer balls in the dryer, since my son has too many allergies for me to dry the clothes outside. I also use vinegar instead of fabric softener and try to use as little soap in the wash as possible. My attempt at composting this year was a huge failure, but hopefully that will work out better next year.
I try to recycle just about everything I can, bring reusable bags to the store, and drive my car less.
