the 10 habits of happy mothers :: meg meeker md {giveaway}

{*GIVEAWAY CLOSED :: CHECK THE WINNERS PAGE TO SEE IF IT WAS YOU*}

Imagine my surprise when I opened my mailbox a couple months ago and found this book sitting there. I quickly learned that my mom had ordered it for me, and really wanted me to read it. Bookworm that I am, I tore into that book immediately. I can't tell you how much I felt like Dr. Meeker was writing this book just for me.

I couldn't be happier about being a mom. But I know that I often walk around with feelings of being overwhelmed. Dr. Meg's book was printed validation of what I have been bottling up inside, and it was a relief to hear from a doctor (and mother!) that not only was it common, but it was fixable!

Dr. Meeker offers practical and easy steps to getting more contentment and happiness in our busy lives. She shares 10 positive habits of mothers who are healthy, happy and find joy in life. Such habits include: maintain key friendships, say no to competition and learn to live simply (just to name a few). I have found that the habits Dr. Meg has named in this book are realistic and spot on. As Oprah would say, I have had more than one "a-ha!" moment while reading this book.

  20. The thing that truly surprised me the most about motherhood is the fact that you HAVE to make time for yourself. I'm constantly giving and giving and started to get depressed and run down until my mom told that I needed to set aside some time each day for me to just do what ever I want. When I do that I seem to be a much happier mother!

  33. The thing that has surprised me most about motherhood is how incredibly rewarding and challenging it can be at the same time. Very few jobs will offer you an experience similar to parenting!

    This review comes at a perfect time for me too! I recently delivered baby #3 and could definitely use some inspiration to help me not feel so overwhelmed. :)
