Bop It

Our daughter was given a Bop It! as a gift years ago. That was when they first came out. It is an interactive game that tells kids to pull it, bop it, or twist it. "It" being the hand-held thing that you hold in your hand. It keeps score on how many commands you successfully follow without messing up. Since you're timed on this, and the time to perform the command decreases as you get further into your round, it's much more difficult than it sounds.

The kids love it.

They wore out that first Bop It! that we had. Seriously. Even after replacing the batteries, it was just dead. I think it was bopped one too many times, but it was pushing eight years old.

We recently bought a new Bop It! for the kids. Here's the fun part - all the kids love it. The elementary age kids and the teenagers all fight over who gets to play next. And the genius designers of this toy knew this would happen (they probably tested it on their own children) so it has a solo feature and a party feature. When a party plays, you pass it to the next person when you get out. Everyone plays, everyone is happy, and that makes mom super happy.

Bop It! runs on batteries, and is highly portable. Car trips are amazingly short when Bop It! rides with us. Being bored is a thing of the past. I highly recommend this as a fun (and active) toy for your kids, or for a gift for someone else. The holidays are coming - just thought you might want a heads up.

Buy Your Own: Bop It! can be found in stores that carry toys, and is reasonably priced somewhere around $20.

  1. Wow, I've never actually tried playing one. But anything that keeps kids preoccupied during a long car ride should be a good toy! Love the party feature, that way everyone can have a go, its great for interaction!
